google-halloween-logo Hey.. it is Halloween today and Google got new interesting logo as always for us. I always amazed by their creativity in decorating their logo, they also still preserve their official color!

Halloween

Holiday observed on October 31, the eve of All Saints’ Day.
Its pagan origins can be traced to the Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated in ancient England and Ireland to mark the beginning of the Celtic new year. The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on Samhain eve, and witches, goblins, black cats, and ghosts were said to roam abroad. The night was also thought to be the most favorable time for divinations concerning marriage, luck, health, and death. The pagan observances influenced the Christian festival of All Hallows’ Eve, celebrated on the same date. The holiday was gradually secularized and was introduced into the U.S. by the late 19th century. Still associated with evil spirits and the supernatural, it is celebrated by children in costume who gather candy by ringing doorbells and calling out “trick or treat,” “trick” referring to the pranks and vandalism that are also part of the Halloween tradition.

The Worst Thing about Macs

Jason Cross at ExtremeTech has made an interesting post about The Worst Thing About Macs. Here is some excerpt.

“Microsoft Just Copies Everyone and Buys Everything.” This common belief held by Mac users is not only factually incorrect, it turns a blind eye to the many ways in which Apple fails to, ahem, “Think Different.” The way Dashboard in OS X rips off Konfabulator and other widget engines predating it, Spaces knocks off many prior Virtual Desktop features, or how that fancy CoverFlow stuff was purchased from third-party developer Steel Skies. Many popular Apple ads are knock-offs. The “Hello” iPhone ad blatantly rips off Christian Marclay’s film short “Telephones.” Lugs actually issued a cease and desist order to get Apple to stop the iPod ad that was nearly identical to their Eminem ad. Their ad boasting the new Intel chips clones the music video for “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service.

The Ugliest Products in Tech History

The Ugliest Products in Tech History according to MSN Tech & Gadgets. Guess what, there were 2 Microsoft’s products in their list.. LOL

Microsoft Windows 1.0

The first Macintosh operating system popularized the concept of graphical user interfaces when it was launched in 1984, and a year later Microsoft responded with the first version of Windows–and no GUI has been as blocky or garish since. To be fair, the first Windows wasn’t so much an operating system as an add-on to MS-DOS, which meant living with design groaners like ALL-CAPITAL file names and the still-very-DOS-like graphics standard. Though more than a few people would contend that Microsoft has been playing catch-up with Apple’s design sense ever since, the ugly duckling did eventually turn into a swan with Windows Vista. And, as we understand it, Windows has done kind of OK in the marketplace.

Google’s 9th Birthday Logo

google 9th birthdayHey, check this out. I don’t know if you already notice this new Google logo celebrating their 9th birthday. Nice logo huh?

I still remember past back in 1998 when I first know and using internet Yahoo! is the most popular search engine and website (even now yahoo! is the most visited website), I don’t even know what is Google. Now look what they have become in just few years. Knocking back most of the internet leader.

I wonder what will happen now if Yahoo! buy Google back in 2002 but luckily they got enough vision to turn that offer down.

Long live Google!
